Phal. Tanager ‘Oriole’ AM/AOS

Shared as a keiki from a specimen grown in the Denver Botanic Gardens orchid greenhouses, this Phalaenopsis hybrid is an older cross with a complex background. The parent Phal. Spica is issued from lueddemanniana x fasciata, and the second parent, Phal. Mazomanie, is 1/4 lueddemanniana mixed with violacea and amboinensis, plus some mariae and pallens. Awarded in 1983, Phal. Tanager is registered with the International Orchid Register. Its culture requirements are similar to those of Phal. lueddemanniana – partial shade, kept moist but not wet. Summer bloomer.
