Neofinetia falcata ‘Shunkyuden’

The Shunkyuden (春及殿) or ‘Spring Palace’ cultivar is one of the oddest looking forms of Neofinetia falcata. Its special charm lies in its large mutated peloric flower with extra parts growing in all manner of directions. The flowers take over a week to develop and are almost four times bigger than regular-sized Neo flowers. They also last longer than average for the species. Variability of this form is high with no two blooms looking alike, even from year to year. A bit slow to form clumps but easy to grow, Shunkyuden plants can be a little expensive as this variety is also sterile, hence propagated only by true divisions. Very fragrant at nighttime.

Note: Greenish-white flowers with a touch of pink/red in the middle, green stem, green roots, and crescent moon tsuke.
