Neofinetia falcata ‘Amani Island’

Very sweetly fragrant at night, this is the largest Neofinetia cultivar of this Japanese species. Delicate white flowers with long nectar spurs grow along a single inflorescence and bloom for about a month in summer. The roots tend to grow around the medium rather than in the pot. Planted in bark at first, I ended up potting the orchid Japanese style in a sphagnum moss mound and bonsai pot. The effect is quite stunning.
